204 kg of marijuana worth Rs. 1 crore seized in Bengaluru; three arrested

Mysore/Mysuru: The Central Crime Branch, Bengaluru, has cracked a drug racket and seized 204 kgs of marijuana (ganja) worth Rs. 1 crore that three people were transporting in a truck (KA-51-AB-4233) from a village in East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off, a Police team tracked down the shipment and intercepted the truck near Devanahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The accused – Sameer, 37 and Khaiser Pasha, 41, both of whom hail from Mysuru and Ismail Shariff, 38 from Chikkaballapura – had allegedly concealed the marijuana in the truck.

While Khaiser Pasha is a resident of Ghousianagar C Block, 8th Cross, Sameer is a resident of Shanthinagar. Police said that Pasha is the prime accused in the case and he was into ganja business since the last six months...

Work on installing Lifts in Crawford Hall stopped

Mysore/Mysuru: The move of University of Mysore to construct two lifts in the two-floor Crawford Hall, a heritage building, has now been stopped following criticism. 

Crawford Hall was built in 1947 and the administrative offices of the University are housed in the imposing structure adjacent to the scenic Kukkarahalli Lake. The Offices of the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, the Registrar (Evaluation), the Finance Officer and the Public Grievance Cell are located in this building. And the University began constructing the lifts at South and North side of the Crawford Hall.

Chadwick Boseman, star of Black Panther, dies at 43 after four year battle with cancer

Actor Chadwick Boseman has died at 43 after battling colon cancer for four years, according to a statement posted on his Twitter account.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the statement reads. “It was the honor of his life to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

Boseman worked on a number of films and TV shows over the last two decades, including 42 where he portrayed iconic baseball player Jackie Robinson, James Brown in Get on Up, and Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, but he was best known for his role as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. New Google Assistant feature makes it easier to donate directly to important causes

Google Assistant is getting a new feature that makes it easier to donate money to important humanitarian and nonprofit organizations, starting with the Center for Policing Equity, an organization that works to promote police transparency and accountability.

The news was announced today to coincide with the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington. The new donation shortcut can only be accessed on mobile phones for now, either by saying “Hey Google, donate to racial justice,” to Assistant (either directly on Android or through the app on iOS) or by using a dedicated card in Google Assistant’s daily Snapshot view.

Maletira S. Muthappa is ADC to Army Chief

Virajpet: Maletira S. Muthappa has been appointed as aide-de-camp (ADC) to Chief of Army Staff. Muthappa is at present serving in the Defence Ministry and was a Commissioner for Indian Military Academy in 2016.

He hails from Kedamulloor village near Virajpet and is the son of Maletira Rathna Subbaiah and Usha. He  is the fifth Army officer from Kodagu to serve as ADC to the Chief of Army Staff.
